CURRENT TEAM MEMBERS
Connor B.
Connor was with the team from 2012 through 2016. He was the team’s lead programmer with programming skills in Java, HTML, CSS, and RobotC. Connor went on to attend ASU Barrett to pursue a career in cyber intelligence. He had participated in FLL for one year and FTC for three years. He studied Mandarin while at OIAIS and took a trip to China.
Trinity B.
Trinity was with the team for one season, 2018-2019. She was on the base design team, head of team biographies and most importantly was our team's spokesperson. Trinity had a knack for getting team members motivated and excited for whatever task was at hand. Trinity was also on the school's debate team and member of theater and "Company".

Trinity went on to attend U of A to study astronomy.
Cassie B.
Cassie was with the team for one season, 2020-2021. She was on the software team.
Matthew C.
Matthew was with the team from 2012 through 2016. In his senior year he was in charge of the team’s business plan and monitored all financial transactions. Matthew was involved with the school’s theater troupe and performed as the lead in William Shakespeare's "Macbeth". Matthew was the Vice President of the school's symphonic band, and plays the alto saxophone. Matthew has gone on to college where he hopes to pursue a career in medicine.
Megan C.
Megan was a member of the team from 2013 through 2017. She was the team’s director of public relations and was also part of the base team. Megan was involved in theatre and was the lead in the school's production of “Bye Bye Birdie”. During her time at OIAIS she traveled to places in Europe such as London, France, and Italy to perform William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” and “The Taming of the Shrew”. Prior to graduating high school, she also attended Estrella Mountain Community College where she maintained a 4.0 GPA.
Alex C.
Alex was a member of the team from 2019 through 2021. He was part of our technical writing and creative teams and also worked closely with our engineering notebook department. He applied his artistic flare to social media images and outreach drawings. He is best known for adding a bit of satire to any situation.
Emily F.
Emily was a member of the Automatons from 2017-2021. She started the team on our hardware subteam and went on to be the lead of the technical writing and engineering notebook review teams. She truly enjoyed learning every department in robotics.

Emily was our Dean's List nominee in 2020.
​
Emily is attending NAU after to pursue a degree in computer science.
Alison F.
Alison was on the team from 2017 to 2018. She was in charge of our base building team but was also the go to gal for anything any sub team needed. She has gone on to attend Embry Riddle College and even joined their Vex robotics team.
Kathryn H.
Kathryn was a member of the team from 2016 through 2018. She was in charge of our public relations including corporate presentations, judge's interview materials and our pit displays. In addition to robotics, she volunteered at the library and gave private art lessons.
Dylan H.
Dylan was on the team from 2019-2021.

Dylan was a lead on our hardware team, judge's interview spokesperson and our resident "Big Brain" (with hair to match).
​
Dylan was also on our school's mountain biking team and after graduating high school, came back to be a team mentor/coach while pursuing a college education in mechanical engineering.
Mason H.
Mason was on the team from 2017-2021. He started on the hardware and creative subteams, took on scout master and drive coach his sophomore year, and ended up being our lead programmer.

Mason was our Dean's List nominee in 2020.
He loves music and playing the guitar and has gone on to the University of Advancing Technology to pursue a career in computer science.
Anthony J.
Anthony was on the team from 2013 through 2016. Anthony's main job in his senior year was to build the game pieces of the robot after the plans and sketches had been created.
Derek L.
Derek was on the team for all four of his high school years from 2015 through 2019. Derek was our Chief Operating Officer his senior year and the driving force behind our software team for his entire Automaton career. His willingness to dive in, excellent quality control skills, in addition to his impressive problem-solving abilities made him a valued and efficient team member! He is now a coach for the team!
Evan L.
Evan was on the team from 2017 through 2021. He was on our Hardware (Collector Design) Team. He always showed up full of energy boosting the morale of the team!
He was on the school's mountain biking team as well. He has been quoted saying "Biking is exercise for my mind, Robotics is exercise for my brain".
Kendall L.
Kendall was on the team from 2013 through 2016. As a homeschooled senior, Kendall was grateful to be part of the Odyssey robotics team. In his senior year he was the designer of the collector and distributor and was also interested in exploring programming. Robotics opened his eyes to careers in engineering which he went on to pursue!
Aiden M.
Aiden was on the team for most of the 2019-2020 season. He was a member of the collection and distribution design/build team.
Aaron M.
Aaron was on the team from 2015 through 2018. Aaron was our head of engineering his senior year and he was also involved in the Buckeye Youth Council. After his church mission, he aspires to have a career in engineering. He was introduced to robotics at a young age and when he heard the school had a robotics team, he decided to jump right in!
Ammon M.
Ammon was on the team from 2015 through 2018. Ammon was our chief executive officer his senior year as well as in charge of controlling the robot. In addition to robotics, he is active with the Buckeye Youth Council and is a member of the National Honors Society. Like his brother, he was introduced to robotics at a young age and has enjoyed being able to take part in FTC.
Josh M.
Josh was an Automaton from 2017-2021. He wanted to join in Jr. high and was heartbroken when he went to a meeting and discovered we were a high school only team... he spent 2 years then waiting for his time to shine! He became a coach after graduating.

He was known as our jack of all trades and could jump into any department. Josh spent time primarily in our hardware department but also was an important part of our CAD and white paper technical writing teams.
Isaac M.
Isaac was on the team from 2017 through 2019. He was head of the CAD department, ensuring the engineering notebook and white papers had been completed, and testing / quality assurance for our robot before competitions. He was also great at getting large crowds at competitions to "T pose!"
Caleb O.
Caleb was on the team from 2013-2016. He attended Skyview High School but they did not have a robotics team so he was happy he was able to join the Automatons.
Devan P.
Devan was on the team from 2012 through 2016. Devan was one of the team's go to programmers as well as a driver.
Abel R.
Abel was on the team from 2018 through 2020. He was on our hardware team, our chief organizer - always keeping the robot parts in order and was a master trinket collector.
Brandon R.
Brandon was on the team from 2015 through 2018. He was the head of our CAD department. He was also on the school's swim team. He went on to University of Advanced Technology after graduation to pursue a career in game design.
Jessica R.
Jessica was on our team from 2017-2021. Se was on the team unofficially for two years prior as she spent a lot of with the team when her older brother was part of it. Even traveling with them to Worlds!

Jessica started her robotics journey as a "tag a long" but quickly grew to love robotics and became our Creative Department Lead. She coordinated public relations, social outreach and all aspects of our pit design, video production and marketing materials.
She was best known for leaving remarkable sketches on random pieces of paper or the whiteboard at every meeting.
David S.
David was on the team for one year, 2016-2017. David was a team player and enjoyed helping solve challenging issues especially when math was involved! He went on to be a high school math substitute before finishing his college degree.
Derrek T.
Derrek was on the team from 2014 through 2017. He was always up for a challenge and was an intricate part of the team. He had a love for programming.
Brody T.
Brody was on the team from 2017 through 2019 and was on our software development team.
Katie V.
Katie was on the team from 2013 through 2016. She was in charge of our social media. She was also the President of the OI band and was on the OI golf team.
Jack W.
Jack was on the team from 2013 through 2016. He was a Hardware Engineer and on the Base subteam and Collection and Distribution teams. Jack had always loved building and designing robots. He loved robotics and always had great ideas. Jack participated in Lego Robotics in 7th Grade before his participation in Arizona FIRST™ Tech Challenge (FTC). Jack was on the swim team, in 4H, and tutored middle schoolers, all in addition to being very involved in his church.
